Mission of SASS

Through consultation, intervention and advocacy, Student Assistance and Support Services (SASS) strives to support, educate and assist students challenged with complex issues, crises and other barriers that impede academic success. By empowering students to navigate university systems and resources as well as make informed decisions about their individual needs, SASS fosters the development of skills that promote agency and resilience.

Vision Statement

Students who engage with SASS will develop a skill set that promotes a balanced sense of wellness that allows them to thrive.

Life events can interfere with a student’s ability to be successful at Northwestern. When a challenging situation arises, a student or family may find it difficult to navigate the many resources and services that are available at NU. Our goal is to remove obstacles by creating a well-coordinated network of services that allow students to close the gap on any potential barriers to academic, co-curricular and social well-being.

Meeting with a SASS team member is often a good starting place.
