As Assistant Dean of Students and Director of AccessibleNU, Alison is responsible for implementing the mission and vision of the office and providing leadership, education, and outreach. She also works individually with students to provide academic coaching and advocacy and, in collaboration with students and faculty, determines reasonable accommodations and services. She has loved serving in the office since 2007, where most of her work has focused on partnering with colleagues to raise awareness of disabilities as a form of diversity and to enhance web accessibility.

Prior to Northwestern, Alison taught and directed programs supporting first-generation-college, low-income, and students with disabilities at Oakton Community College and Columbia College Chicago. Alison received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Dartmouth and her Ph.D. in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Northwestern. In her free time, she enjoys reading, researching interventions geared towards improving students’ well-being, and time with her family.
