Dr. Robert Aaron, Executive Director

Dr. Robert W. Aaron is Executive Director of Student Affairs Assessment and Planning at Northwestern University. In this position he leads assessment, research, and planning support for over 30 administrative units that comprise the Division of Student Affairs. He came to Northwestern in 2016.

Rob earned his bachelor's degree in music from University of Rochester, his master's degree in higher education and student affairs from The Ohio State University, and his Ph.D. from Indiana University in higher education. Prior to Northwestern, Rob worked in a variety of capacities in higher education for twenty years: He served in assessment and research-related positions at The Ohio State University, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), and the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). In addition, he held multiple positions in student affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Rob's research interests include identity development in college students, and assessment and evaluation in higher education.

Kelly Iwanaga Becker, Associate Director

Kelly Iwanaga Becker is the Associate Director of Student Affairs Assessment & Planning at Northwestern University. In this role, she provides assessment and research support to advance the mission and strategic plan of the Division.

Kelly earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Boston College and master’s degrees in education and sociology from Northwestern University. She is currently completing her PhD in sociology at Northwestern, and her dissertation focuses on the high school-to-college transition for low-income, first-generation college students and their persistence in higher education. As a graduate research assistant at Northwestern's Institute for Policy Research, Kelly has conducted quantitative research on a variety of topics related to college access, persistence, and satisfaction. Prior to Northwestern, her professional experiences include working in admissions at DePaul University and as a junior high school teacher in Chicago.

Amy Huntington, Assistant Director

Amy Huntington

Amy earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from George Mason University and her master's degree in social psychology from the University of Connecticut. As a graduate research assistant at the University of Connecticut and undergraduate research assistant at George Mason University, Amy conducted quantitative research on a variety of topics related to stigma and self, inter-group relations, power dynamics and political psychology.

As a graduate student at University of Connecticut, she taught undergraduate classes ranging from theories of personality to research methods and quantitative statistics. Prior to Northwestern, Amy's professional experiences include working in a variety of capacities, including database management and data analytics.
