Strategic Plan Update

October 23, 2013

As we plan for the future of this great University, we are reminded of the strong foundation upon which we are implementing our strategic plan. The purple pride that we feel so strongly has been on splendid display this fall, from the pageantry of Wildcat Welcome to a Homecoming week that made Northwestern the talk of the nation for our achievements in the classroom and research laboratories, as well as on the field.

As unveiled in our strategic plan, NorthWEstern Will, almost two years ago, we have ambitious goals for the future. Please take a few minutes to get an update that was completed this summer about the strategic plan and key initiatives that are under way. If you didn’t have a chance to read it over the summer, we think you might find it worthwhile to take a look at it now. The plan is available at:

Northwestern students and faculty are developing innovative approaches in fields from energy and global health care to media and the performing arts. New programs are expanding the impact of experiential learning, increasing opportunities for student research, providing more summer programs and stimulating additional innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

We are connecting with our community in efforts that range from diversity initiatives and career experiences and guidance to providing new space for University-wide events. And we are engaging with the world through exciting partnerships with Chicago-area universities, national laboratories and other institutions as well as through our Qatar campus and University programs on six continents.

Although the update does not detail everything that has been undertaken in the last year, it offers important highlights of what is under way and where the strategic plan is leading us.
