What if I have Internet connection issues when taking my survey?

Connection issues and other technical problems are often caused by the respondent’s browser settings for cookies, JavaScript, and cache handling. If you are having connection issues, it may be because of your browser settings. The following browsers are supported for survey administration: Internet Explorer 9, 10, and 11 and the latest versions of Chrome, FireFox, and Safari. Please make sure that JavaScript and cookies are enabled on your computer. If your browser settings are appropriate but you are still experiencing technical difficulties, please contact the Aon Help Desk. A link to the Aon Help Desk is included in the survey email that Aon Hewitt sent on November 1. For any other questions, email the staff survey human resources team and your question will be directed to the appropriate person.

Why am I not allowed to access the survey?

If you are unable to access the survey, you may have started your employment with Northwestern University after the October 16 cutoff date. If you feel you should have been invited, please email the staff survey human resources team, and your question will be directed to the appropriate person.

After I click the link, I am unable to access the site.

Can I take the survey from my home computer?

Yes. You may take the survey from any computer, tablet, or smartphone with Internet access. However, we encourage all staff to take the survey from either your individually assigned computer or a shared workstation at your site so that you do not have to take the survey on your personal time. For questions regarding access to the 2017 Staff Survey, please contact the Aon Help Desk. A link to the Aon Help Desk is included in the survey email that Aon Hewitt sent on November 1. For any other questions, email the staff survey human resources team, and your question will be directed to the appropriate person.

Can I resume the survey later where I left off?

Yes – the survey will be open until November 17. The Aon Hewitt online survey allows respondents to leave the survey and then resume at a later time; your answers will be saved. You can click “Save & Return Later” at the bottom of the screen. Please note, however, that once the “Submit” button has been clicked, results will be sent to Aon Hewitt, and you will not be able to change your answers. Please save your invitation or reminder email, as you can use that same link to reaccess the survey if you do have to stop at some point and complete the survey later.

When I return to the survey, will I start on the first page?

No. You will return to the welcome page of the survey. Then click “next” to go to the place where you left off, as long as you clicked “Save” on that page. All previous responses will have been saved, and you will be able to complete the survey.

Can I complete the survey more than once?

No. Once “Submit” has been clicked on the last page of the online survey, respondents cannot change their answers or reenter the survey. You will receive notification that you have reached the end of the survey prior to selecting the final “Submit” button.

I received a reminder that I have not yet taken my survey, but I know I have completed it, so why am I getting this reminder?

Either you have submitted your responses within several hours of the reminder being sent or you did take the survey but did not click the “Submit Survey” button at the end. The “Submit Survey” button must be clicked for the survey to be considered completed. You can use your reminder email to click on your link to resume the survey and then click “Submit Survey.”

Will the survey be available in languages other than English?

No, this survey will not be provided in any other languages at this time. If you have any questions or concerns about this, email the staff survey human resources team, and they will direct your question to the appropriate person.

What should I do if a computer is not readily available to me?

Either you or your supervisor can email the staff survey human resources team and they will direct your question to the appropriate person.

Will this survey be mobile-friendly?

Yes. You should be able to access this survey via computer, tablet, or smart phone.
