Staff Survey "Coming Soon" Email

October 18, 2017

Dear Northwestern Staff,

As a valued member of our community, your engagement and contributions are essential to Northwestern’s future trajectory as a world-renowned academic and research institution.  We all share a commitment to engaging and inspiring each other to do our very best work.  Not only is this critical to supporting our individual professional pursuits, but it is fundamental to our continued organizational growth and success.

To sustain our positive journey, to advance our goals of attracting and retaining top talent, and to foster a culture that recognizes the important and diverse roles we all fulfill, we are pleased to announce that Northwestern will conduct its first staff survey this fall.

Your open, honest feedback will be instrumental in helping us identify what you value about working at Northwestern as well as areas in which we should improve. We have partnered with an experienced vendor to conduct the survey and collect responses, so you can have complete confidence in the anonymity of your responses. We will also work closely with them to activate plans in response to the survey results. We sought input from numerous staff members in the design of the survey, and we are confident it will resonate with you.

On November 1, you will receive an invitation from Aon Hewitt to complete the survey – the email will have the subject “The Northwestern University 2017 Staff Survey Is Here!” We encourage you to take the time needed to tell us what you value, what motivates you and how you feel about working at Northwestern. We all share the responsibility to make Northwestern an even greater place to work, so please make your voice heard.

You can visit the 2017 Staff Survey website for more information on our approach and goals as well as our plan for action upon analyzing the survey results. In the coming months, we will work with schools and units to develop and communicate priorities and action plans. Please consider this part of an ongoing conversation on Northwestern’s journey to become an employer of choice. We are listening intently and look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your time and efforts in completing this important survey.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Holloway, Provost and Professor
Nim Chinniah, Executive Vice President
