Justice & Allyship Retreat

Social Justice Education is hosting a special edition Justice & Allyship Retreat with the Midwest Academy on “Organizing for Justice” on April 16-18, 2021. 
It will be virtual through zoom and is capped at 25 undergraduate and graduate students. Register by March 19, 2021.

*Due to COVID-19, the 2021 Justice and Allyship Retreat will be hosted in an entirely virtual format via Zoom. If you have questions about this, please email socialjustice@northwestern.edu. 

The retreat will engage 25 undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in gaining skills and tools to develop a better understanding of community organizing.

The Midwest Academy is a national training institute committed to advancing the struggle for social, economic, and racial justice. From local neighborhood groups to statewide and national organizations, Midwest Academy has trained over twenty-five thousand grassroots activists from hundreds of organizations and coalitions. Midwest Academy teaches an organizing philosophy, methods and skills that enable ordinary people to actively participate in the democratic process.

Whether you’re a new organizer or looking to brush up and expand your skills, this training will give you a solid foundation in how to bring people together in campaigns that win.

Registration & Cancellation Information

Previously, we have required a $50 deposit to minimize late-notice cancellations. Due to the transition to a virtual program, we will not be requiring a deposit to confirm participation. However, in accepting a spot at the virtual Justice & Allyship Retreat, we ask that you gauge your ability to to engage virtually Friday, April 16 from 5-8pm CT and Saturday-Sunday,  April 17-18 1 from 10:30-3:00pm CT. Registration closes on March 19, 2021.

In the event that you have confirmed your participation and are no longer able to attend, we ask that you email socialjustice@northwestern.edu as soon as possible so that we may offer your place to a student on the waiting list.
