Granting Proxy Access to Online Grading in CAESAR

Grading proxies allow you to designate another person (such as a TA) to enter grades for a particular class section. A grading proxy must have a NetID and be a faculty, staff, or student member of the NU community. He or she cannot be enrolled in the class section selected and cannot be an Undergraduate or Non-Degree Seeking student.

Step 1

To grant someone proxy access to enter grades online on your behalf, login to CAESAR. The Instructor/Advisor Home Page will appear. If your default view in CAESAR is your Student Home Page, first select the Instructor/Advisor home page by clicking on the triangle at the top of the page.

To ensure account security, sign out and quit your browser when you complete your tasks.

Step 2

Select My Classes on your Instructor/Advisor Home Page.

Step 3

The current, or most recent, term should default on the page. To change the term, select Change Term. Your Teaching Schedule for the term you have selected will appear on the lower part of the page. (If you are a grading proxy for another course, a list of classes for which you are a grading proxy will appear at the bottom of the page.)

Step 4

Select the Edit Grading Proxies located in the far right-hand column of the row for the course you wish to enter a proxy (or proxies). The "Edit Class Grading Proxies" page appears.

Note: CAESAR allows you to retrieve information only for classes you are responsible for grading. You will be able to enter as a proxy only someone with a valid Northwestern NetID.

Step 5

Enter the NetID of the person you would like to add as a proxy in the "Proxy NetID" field, and select Search. You will receive the following message: "Are you sure you want to add and save this proxy: NetID LastName, First Name?” Select OK to save the proxy or select Cancel if you made mistake.

Note: Your page will refresh when you select OK, and the name of the proxy will appear in the list of "Current Class Grading Proxies."

To Delete a proxy, click Delete to the right of the proxy’s name. You will receive the following message: "Are you sure you want to delete this proxy: NetID LastName, First Name?" Select OK to save and delete the proxy, or select Cancel to keep the proxy.
