Teaching Observation Request Form

Graduate students who are TAs or instructors may arrange to have their teaching observed by a Graduate Teaching Fellow.  Prior to the observation, the Fellow will meet with the TA/instructor to get background information on the course and to discuss how the course is going.  During the observation, the Fellow will take notes on what happens in the classroom, paying attention both to the TA/instructor and to student interactions with the teacher and each other. The Fellow then meets with the TA/instructor to discuss their observations, and to receive an observation report that may be used in a teaching portfolio.

The teaching observation is aimed at providing constructive feedback on your teaching, and is not meant as an evaluation.  All observations are strictly confidential. However, participants may wish to inform their departments or potential employers of the efforts they have undertaken to improve their teaching.

Please submit your request at least one week in advance of your first preferred observation date.
