Faculty Understanding of Improvement in Teaching
In this study we examined inquiry-based, project-based learning in a year-long faculty development program, Northwestern University's Searle Fellows program. Using case studies drawn from critical accounts of faculty projects, we present a model that depicts how faculty members understand improvement in their teaching. We have further identified key program elements that facilitated the adoption of learning-focused teaching practices by our participants.
