Teaching, Learning & Technology
Overview
Since 2003, the Searle Center for Teaching Excellence and Research & Academic Technologies has offered a program to train graduate students to use technology in ways that engage students and enhance teaching.
Program Update
For the upcoming academic year, we will be offering a variation of this program in winter 2009 that will be open to Northwestern graduate students and faculty members. Program and registration details will be updated by Summer 2008.
Meanwhile, if you are interested in participating in this program, email teach@northwestern.edu with your name, department, and year, and we will contact you once program details are finalized.
Comments from Past Participants
I plan on using the...site I started as the template/basis for a course I'm teaching this summer. More importantly, I plan on considering WHAT I'm teaching, HOW I'm going to measure learning and teaching, and WHY I'm asking students to learn given facts/info.
...[W]ith [this program] you got a chance to actually practice and you got feedback from other people about that, and you got to see what they did, too, so you always got tons of ideas from other people.
It really was one of the best courses I have ever taken at NU, both in terms of the content covered and the way in which it was presented. I'm not sure everyone...[is] aware of how priceless this kind of instruction is, but I sure am, and I really appreciated the chance to be a part of it.
