Graduate Teaching Fellows Application
Applications Due April 12, 2013
Eligibility
Ph.D. students from any program may apply to be a Graduate Teaching Fellow, provided they meet the following criteria:
- previously served as an NTAC Workshop Leader (formerly known as the TAF program) for the New TA Conference, AND/OR, have participated in the Graduate Teaching Certificate Program
- taught at least two quarters at Northwestern (either as a teaching assistant or instrutor)
- passed qualifying exams by August 2013
- fully funded with a full tuition scholarship and stipend for the 2013-14 academic year
- can attend all required summer training sessions and the New TA Conference
Training:
Thursday, June 27, 9 AM - 3 PM
Tuesday, August 27, 9 AM - 4 PM
Thursday, August 29, 9 AM - 4 PM
New TA Conference:
Thursday, September 19, 8 AM - 4 PM
Application Form and Deadline
To apply to be a Graduate Teaching Fellow you must:
- Fill out the 2013-14 Graduate Teaching Fellow Online Application
- Email the following documents to Tom Popelka by Friday, April 12
- Letter of Interest: Specifically address (1) your desire to participate in the program, and (2) your ideas for a teaching and learning project for graduate students in your department
- Current CV
- Statement of Teaching Philosophy
- Teaching Evidence: This could include but is not limited to: a teaching portfolio; CTECs; letters from students; sample handouts; assignments or syllabi; formal observation reports of your teaching; a letter of support from a professor who has observed your teaching
- Advisor Acknowledgement: A brief note from your advisor acknowledging your prospective participation in the program (need not be a letter of recommendation)
