The New TA Conference (NTAC) is an all-day training for new teaching assistants. Participants explore evidence-based practices in workshops led by experienced graduate students.
After a brief orientation, new TAs work with an NTAC Workshop Leader or Graduate Teaching Fellow from their discipline (or a closely related discipline) to learn about specific strategies for teaching effectively within their departments. New TAs then select from workshops on cross-disciplinary topics facilitated by NTAC Workshop Leaders and Searle Center staff.
In every session, participants are encouraged to reflect on effective teaching practices for instructing in labs, problem-solving sections, or lectures.
All new TAs are encouraged to attend.
