Bio

Nancy joined the Searle Center in 2012 with a diverse research background ranging from primate behavioral ecology to college science education. She holds a doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an M.S. in biological anthropology. Nancy coordinated a large introductory biology course at UW-Madison before going back to do graduate work in curriculum studies. In addition to her interests in graduate professional development, Nancy’s research interests include: assessment of student learning, critical thinking in the STEM disciplines, and integrating the notion of scientific uncertainty into teaching about scientific data and models. Nancy is very excited to bring these interests to her work as Associate Director of Graduate Programs at the Searle Center.
