Life-Threatening
Injuries (examples
are: severe chest pains, gun shot wounds, severe burns, hemorrhaging, severe
head injuries, open compound fractures, etc.)
- Call
911. That will contact the fire department paramedics and direct
them to the employees’ location for treatment and transportation to
the hospital emergency room.
- If
the employee is able to, they should identify themselves as NU employees.
- Follow-up
care will be arraigned through the Claims Manager.
- The
injured employee’s supervisor will assist in the completion of Supervisor's
Injury or Illness Investigation Report.
Other
Injuries During work hours of 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., if medical treatment
is required and it is not of a life-threatening nature:
- The
injured employee’s supervisor is to be notified of the injury or illness.
- The
injured employee’s supervisor will assist in the completion of Supervisor's
Injury or Illness Investigation Report.
- The
injured employee’s supervisor is to notify the Claims Manager (491-5582)
to arrange an examination appointment at the University’s health provider.
The Claims Manager will then advise the supervisor of the appointment
time and location.
During
non-work hours between 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 A.M. or on weekends, if medical
treatment is required and it is not of a life-threatening nature, the
employee should seek treatment at the hospital emergency room.For information
