Ceceilia Pearson, Area Coordinator
Ceceilia is thrilled to return to the Chicago area after working at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She received her Masters Degree in Higher Education and Policy Leadership from Loyola University Chicago. As the Area Coordinator for Engelhart, Ceceilia collaborates with the CA's to plan and implement programs designed to foster community in Engelhart. In addition, Ceceilia is responsible for monitoring the security and safety functions of the Engelhart hall. She hopes that you will offer your suggestions and consider her a resource as we continue to make Engelhart an exciting place to live. Ceceilia can be seen at many of the programs the CAs work so hard to put together. Please feel free to stop and say hello!
Monica Canalizo-Hernandez, Senior Community Assistant
Monica Canalizo-Hernandez was born in Oaxaca, Mexico. After finishing her undergraduate degree in Chemistry at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) at Mexico City, she came to Northwestern University to pursue her PhD in Chemistry. She is beginning her 5th year as a graduate student, and her 2nd year as a CA at Engelhart. Besides science, she also enjoys reading, swimming, learning dances from all over the world and planning activities both for Engelhart and for the Graduate Student Association for Latino and Spanish Activities (G-SALSA) at Northwestern, where she is serving a 2nd term as a President. She is looking forward to contribute to the enrichment, support and fun at Engelhart.
Alex Adler, Community Assistant
Alex Adler was born and raised in northern New Jersey. He earned a B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Penn State. In September, 2007, Alex came to the Materials Science Department at Northwestern University with plans to earn his Ph.D. degree. The spring quarter of 2008 marked Alex's first quarter as a Community Assistant at Engelhart. When he is not in class or at the lab, Alex enjoys dabbling in photography, computer artistry, practicing Aikido, and playing his Wii. While walking around Engelhart or campus, Alex enjoys meeting new people and stopping to chat with friends so feel free to say hello!
Tony Fang, Community Assistant
Jun Fang is originally from Mainland, P.R.China. He received his B.S and MS degree in Process Control Engineering and Science from Zhejiang University. In September 2005, he came to Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at Northwestern University for his PhD study. In September 2006 he started working as a community assistant in Engelhart Hall. Other than technical stuff, he loves music and does a bit music remixing work. He is a huge movie fan as well, constantly trying to catch the latest ones and also enjoying the classic ones with friends. Moreover, he enjoys traveling around, making new friends and trying various exotic foods. He also loves video games, PS2, Arcade and PC ones (WARCRAFT, UNREAL, STARCRAFT etc.). As a CA in Engelhart, he is happy and ready to help all the residents here. So, please do not hesitate to contact him whenever you need anything.
Fatima Varner, Community Assistant
Fatima Varner is a 4th year student in the Human Development and Social Policy PhD program. She is originally from Virginia and studied psychology as an undergraduate at North Carolina State University. Some of her interests outside of her studies and Engelhart events include dance, photography, movies, and community service. This is her first year as a CA and she is already enjoying meeting residents and programming events for the Engelhart community!
