The Alice Millar Chapel is widely known for its excellent musical program. The chapel choir is at the heart of that program, accompanied by organ, brass ensemble and orchestra.The chapel choir provides music for University Chapel Services each Sunday during the academic year. In addition, the chapel choir is featured in several popular musical events in Millar Chapel throughout the year, such as HymnFest, Lessons & Carols, the Alice Millar Birthday Celebration, and the Spring Festival Concert. The Chapel Choir rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Repertoire for the 2009-10 academic year includes Mozart’s Requiem, Randall Thompson’s The Last Words of David, Rollo Dillworth’s Freedom Train, a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, and music of John Corigliano performed during the composer’s residency at Northwestern in May of 2010.
Membership in the chapel choir is by audition. Students in the School of Music may receive ensemble credit.
