Building Your Brand at Northwestern

Marketing your organization and opportunities to Northwestern students is an important part of your on-campus recruiting strategy. Northwestern Career Advancement provides varying levels of social media and marketing support to help organizations participating in on-campus recruiting build their brand. Your employer strategist will help you develop a marketing strategy in line with your organization's recruiting goals.

While NCA does not send dedicated promotional emails to students on behalf of an employer due to the high volume of marketing materials we receive, there are a number of opportunities that we provide through our office, or invite you to explore on your own, to further reach students.

Marketing & Social Media Support

Events and Opportunities

The first step in building your brand on campus is to register your organization in CareerCat to post job/internship opportunities and participate in recruiting events, such as career fairs and information sessions

Organizations hosting information sessions or other recruiting or educational events with NCA (coffee chats, office hours, workshops) will receive marketing support for their event(s) within one week of their event date(s). As such, events must be added in CareerCat at least two weeks in advance to be included in NCA's email communications, as we often prepare these in advance.

Event marketing

  • Event calendar listing
  • Email marketing
    • Sundays: Weekly emails are sent to all Northwestern undergraduate students; biweekly emails are sent to all Northwestern master's and PhD students
    • Throughout each month: Industry emails are sent to students with specific career interests; these often include employer events
  • Social Media
    • NCA welcomes employers to Tweet their information session/event details to @NUCareerAdvance and we'll do our best to Retweet it, or, join our LinkedIn group to share information about on-campus events.

Job/internship marketing

  • Employers who post jobs and internships in CareerCat may Tweet the opportunity (along with its CareerCat ID) to NCA's job- and internship-focused Twitter account, @JobsforCats, and we’ll do our best to Retweet it.
  • Industry emails sent to students with select career interests feature upcoming job or internship listings, as space allows, but general weekly- and biweekly emails sent to all student populations only include employer events.

Advanced social media support is included with certain levels of the NCA corporate sponsorship program. To learn more about becoming a corporate sponsor, please visit NCA Corporate Sponsorship.

Site visits typically last a few hours and may include Q&As, panel/networking discussions, office tours, and other hands-on activities. Please contact Geni Harclerode for more information.
