Undergraduate Programs Abroad

IPD designs and administers international study and research opportunities for Northwestern students. IPD programs target underrepresented students and disciplines, such as premedical and engineering students, and others who might not engage in international study or research due to lack of language skills or lack of professionally-relevant programs abroad.

Our programs are organized around three broad interdisciplinary themes, each targeting a different group of students:

Theme 1: INTERNATIONAL HEALTH

Theme 2: EMERGING GLOBAL STRUCTURES

Theme 3: SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

Our public health programs abroad provide professionally-relevant experiences to students interested in global health, especially pre-med students in various majors (Psychology, Biology, Anthropology, Economics, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering), but also students in journalism, communications, and social policy.
