Associate Vice President of Compliance, Chief Compliance Officer
Marcia Isaacson joined Northwestern on September 1, 2015 as the University's first Associate Vice President for Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer.
In this new role, Marcia provides senior leadership and coordination of compliance activities across the University, ensuring that Northwestern's education, research, and service missions are conducted with integrity and in accordance with the law.
Marcia came to Northwestern from City University of New York (CUNY), where she served as Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Associate General Counsel. Prior to that, she was Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel at the State University of New York (SUNY).
Marcia earned her A.B. with distinction and departmental honors and her Juris Doctor from Stanford University, where she was an editor of the law review. Post-graduation, she clerked for the Honorable Betty Fletcher on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Seattle before spending eight years in Washington, DC, first as an associate at Dewey Ballantine, then as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, Public Integrity Section. In her last position before turning her career focus to higher education compliance, Marcia served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where she prosecuted white-collar crime.
