Joan E. Slavin
Director, Sexual Harassment Prevention Office
Joan E. Slavin joined the university in 2008 as Director of the Office of Sexual Harassment Prevention and Special Assistant to the Provost. Previously, Ms. Slavin practiced labor and employment law in Chicago with the firms of Freeborn & Peters and Sidley & Austin, where she represented private employers in all aspects of employment law, including preventative counseling and working with clients to avoid litigation through positive employee relations. Ms. Slavin graduated with highest distinction from the University of Michigan in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Studies and French. She earned her J.D. degree cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1991. Ms. Slavin also serves on the University Compliance Committee and the Campus Coalition on Sexual Violence.
