McGill Named Assoc. VP

June 21, 2016

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah McGill as Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, effective July 1. In her new role, Sarah will work closely with President Schapiro and with me to coordinate the implementation of university-wide priorities.

President Schapiro has asked that I play a leadership role in these efforts, coordinating with the Provost, Executive Vice President, Deans and Vice Presidents to continue to move Northwestern forward. Sarah will work with the president and me, as well as with leadership across the University, to coordinate our strategic priorities and establish plans in support of our ambitious goals.

Sarah currently serves as Senior Associate Dean in The Graduate School.  In this leadership role, Sarah is the principal deputy to the dean on all administrative, financial, and strategic planning activities and works with senior leadership across Northwestern on key issues related to graduate education. Prior to joining Northwestern, Sarah worked at the University of Chicago, where she held roles in Enrollment and Student Advancement and in Finance and Administration.  Both at the University of Chicago and Northwestern, Sarah has brought a collaborative and cohesive approach to bring people across the institution together to ensure responsiveness, progress, and execution of strategic priorities.  Her proven ability to work well with a variety of university constituencies in several different areas will be a great asset in this new role.

Between July and September, Sarah will divide her time between The Graduate School and her new role in order to ensure a smooth transition of her responsibilities at The Graduate School. Please join President Schapiro and me in supporting Sarah in her new capacity.

Vice President and General Counsel
