Keep Your Address Up to Date In CAESAR


We are asking all students to update their local address in CAESAR, as this information will allow the university to contact and find you for any sort of health or safety concern even if you are living off-campus. As we hope that you are aware, the safety and well-being of NU students is our number one concern, so making sure that we know how and where to physically reach you should there be an electrical power outage (affecting internet, cable & telephone) or cellular service down, or a campus disruption is an important part of our safety planning.

A secondary benefit is simply helping your campus/personal mail and packages catch up with you as you move between residences while at Northwestern. Unfortunately, we had to return a great number of packages and letters this summer as students failed to leave a forwarding address with the University mail centers or with the U.S. Postal Service. Had we had accurate information about where students were living for the summer, or for next fall, we would have been able to forward mail to the proper addresses instead of back to Zappos, Visa/Mastercard, or to the lettersender.

So, if you have done ANY of the following, you should visit your CAESAR account immediately, and update your address:

  • Committed to move out of a Residence Hall or Residential College into a fraternity or sorority chapter house
  • Committed to move out of a Residence Hall or Residential College into an off-campus apartment
  • Committed to move from a fraternity or sorority chapter house into an off-campus apartment
  • Moved from one off-campus apartment to another - even if that means that you lived in Unit #1 last Spring, and are now moving to Unit #3 this Fall within the same building
  • If you will be studying abroad this fall, please be sure to update your mailing address, so that items are sent to where you will be, or to your permanent home address


Updating Your Address Information In CAESAR

The following are instructions on how to update your address in CAESAR:

  1. Login to CAESAR (http://www.northwestern.edu/caesar/ using NetID and password
  2. Scroll down on main screen until the Contact Information (under Personal Information) is visible
  3. Click on Current Address
  4. Click Edit to the right of Current Address
  5. Update Current Address to reflect where you will be residing for the current academic school year
  6. Click Save on the Change Address screen
  7. Click OK on Save Confirmation page
  8. Updated Current Address should be shown

Lastly, if you have changed cellular telephone numbers, or your families or emergency contacts have moved, changed numbers or email addresses, you should also update your emergency contact information. This way, if a situation arises while you are on campus, or traveling for a program or activity, the university will have an accurate way to reach you by phone or text message, as well as reach your families and designated contacts.
