Seven recognized for mentoring womenSeven Northwestern women and members of two campus organizations were recently honored by the Women’s Center for their work in encouraging and mentoring women. The awards dinner was part of the Women’s Center’s 20th anniversary. The featured speaker was Carol Hollenshead, director of the University of Michigan’s Center for the Education of Women. The honorees included Jean Shedd, associate provost; Janet E. O’Connor, research speech language pathologist, School of Communication; Theresa Parker, assistant dean, Kellogg School of Management; Katherine Faber, Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science; and Barbara Shwom, college lecturer, Writing Program, Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. Also honored were Megan Greenfield, a McCormick School graduate student, and Kamardip Singh, a senior in the Weinberg College, as well as the members of the American Medical Women’s Association and Society of Women Engineers. |
