BriefsSix teams highly ranked Six of Northwestern’s active squads currently are ranked in their sports’ respective polls — all of them in the top 10. Two-time defending national champion women’s lacrosse is ranked No. 1 in the first Lacrosse Magazine rankings of the year, and is expected to be in the same spot when the coaches poll is released in the coming weeks. Last year’s NCAA runner-up softball will open the spring season ranked No. 4 in the USA Today/NFCA coaches poll, while women’s fencing currently is No. 5 in its rankings. Men’s swimming moved up two spots to No. 6 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, wrestling is No. 9 in the USA Today/InterMat/NWCA coaches poll and women’s tennis is No. 9 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)/Fila coaches poll. Answers for parents of kids with special needs Feb. 15, 22 Information about services and professional guidance will be available this month to Northwestern parents of children with special needs. One workshop will be held on each campus. The first will be at noon Feb. 15 in the Lurie Medical Research Building Grey Family Room on the Chicago campus. The second will be at noon Feb. 22 at the Norris University Center Alumni Room in Evanston. Marian Casey and Charles Fox from Answers for Special Kids (A.S.K.) will educate parents about the process for working with schools and will help them become well-informed parent-advocates for children with special needs and learning differences.
