Scholarship available to employeesThe University Circle Scholarship Committee has announced the availability of a scholarship of up to $1,000 to be awarded to one or more University employees who are enrolled in the University’s School of Continuing Studies during the 2007-08 academic year. The scholarship may be applied to tuition for the following summer, fall or winter quarters. The application deadline is March 1. University Circle is an organization founded in 1915 to enhance the Northwestern University community through service and educational projects. The University Circle established the scholarship in 2004 and awarded the first one in spring 2005. The scholarship is funded annually through the donations from University Circle members and friends. The announcement of the award winner or winners will be made during the Annual Meeting of the University Circle next May. Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum “B” average and must have been employed by Northwestern University for more than one year. The application must include the requested supporting documentation and a letter of recommendation by a professor in the program. In 2006, University Circle awarded two scholarships because there was such an increase in the number and quality of applications. They were presented to two Feinberg School of Medicine employees: Laura Guzman, a research technologist who is working toward a master’s of arts degree in literature, and Silvia Skripkauskas, a heath literacy research coordinator for the Institute for Healthcare Studies. Skripkauskas is pursuing a master’s degree in public policy and administration with a focus on health. • • • Information about the annual scholarship and applications are available at www.northwestern.edu/universitycircle. |
