Public invited to town hall on breast cancer

A Town Hall meeting on “The Promises and Myths of Breast Cancer Research,” which is free and open to the public, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers, 301 E. North Water St.

A panel of experts, including patient advocates and noted breast cancer researchers, will discuss the latest in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and genetics, including the role of integrative medicine in merging Western and Eastern philosophies and treatments to form a comprehensive approach to patient care.

An extensive question-and-answer period will follow brief presentations by the panelists.

William Gradishar, M.D., associate professor of medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University and breast cancer researcher at The Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, will moderate the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Town Hall meeting.

The breast cancer Town Hall meeting is held each year during the annual Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Symposium. This year’s symposium is scheduled from Thursday to Sunday (Oct. 6 to 9), at the Sheraton.
