eRecruit streamlines job search processes

The University has acquired a new human resources tool, eRecruit, in an effort to continue attracting the best faculty and staff.

eRecruit is another stage in Human Resource’s (HR) effort to continue to improve the recruitment process.

eRecruit is a comprehensive desktop tool that links applicants, hiring managers and human resources personnel, enabling an easier and more streamlined recruitment process from requisition to offer. The new technology will help keep Northwestern competitive by allowing for a larger applicant pool, which will ensure recruitment of top talent, according to Vera Potapenko, director of consulting and staffing, and Kathy Tessendorf, director of information systems.

eRecruit will allow applicants, both internal and external, to search and apply for jobs confidentially and upload and edit their resumes online. Also, offer letters and rejections will be more timely, and all applications will be tracked and archived for future referrals.

For the hiring manager or faculty member, requisitions and job descriptions will be stored online and able to be easily updated. Resumes will be available on the manager’s desktop, applications will be automated, the recruitment process will be more efficient, and as a result, HR will decrease days to hire and increase customer service.

HR will host two upcoming eRecruit preview presentations and training sessions on the Chicago campus.

The preview will show how to search and apply for jobs confidentially, complete the online application, and upload and edit resumes in eRecruit. Also included will be the new notification for receipt of resumes, offer letters and rejection letters. The sessions are at 11:30 a.m. today (May 12) and 10 a.m. May 18 at McGaw Pavilion Room 3-322.
