Costs increase 5 percent

Total undergraduate costs at Northwestern, including tuition, fees, room and board, will increase 5.3 percent to $41,663 in 2005-2006 from the current year’s $39,582, University officials announced today. The University’s Board of Trustees approved the costs for next year at its Feb. 26 meeting.

Achenbach receives highest technology honor

Jan D. Achenbach, Walter P. Murphy Professor and Distinguished McCormick School Professor of the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been awarded the 2003 National Medal of Technology, the nation’s highest honor awarded by the president for technological innovation.

John Adams

John Adams, winner of the Michael Ludwig Nemmers Prize in Music Composition, recently completed his first of four residencies at Northwestern. He closed the visit with a Feb. 25 concert at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall. He also made classroom visits and consulted on a rehearsal by the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Mallory Thompson and featuring pianists Ursula Oppens and Sylvia Wang.
