Services honor Conquergood, Paschke

A memorial service in honor of Dwight Conquergood, associate professor of performance studies who died Nov. 15, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Alice Millar Chapel. A reception will follow in the Guild Lounge of Scott Hall.

According to Conquergood’s wishes, the service was coordinated by his Northwestern colleague and friend Associate Professor E. Patrick Johnson. Johnson will sing two solo selections. Micaela Di Leonardo, professor of anthropology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, will deliver the eulogy, and School of Communication professors Kathleen Galvin and Michelle Citron will give tributes.

School of Music Professor Paul Berliner, students from performance studies and members of the Albany Park Theatre Project will perform.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Dwight Conquergood Fund to establish an endowment for Northwestern graduate student research in performance studies. Checks can be sent to the Dwight Conquergood Fund, c/o School of Communication, Frances Searle Building, 2240 Campus Drive, Evanston.

A memorial service for Ed Paschke, Mary Jane Crowe Professor of Art and Art History, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in Alice Millar Chapel. A reception will follow in Guild Lounge in Scott Hall.

Mr. Paschke, who died Nov. 25, was considered one of the most influential painters from Chicago; his paintings are in permanent collections throughout the world. He mentored numerous undergraduate and graduate students during his 27 years on the Northwestern faculty.
