Miller joins TIAA-CREF council

Guy Miller, associate vice president for Human Resources, has been named to the Advisory Council of retirement plan provider TIAA-CREF. The council is a group of leading institutional representatives who provide feedback and guidance to the retirement plan company.

“The Advisory Council is one of our company’s most valuable resources for ensuring we fully understand — and effectively meet — the needs of our client institutions and participants,” said Herbert M. Allison, TIAA-CREF chairman, president and chief executive officer. 

New IT director

David C. Kovarik has joined Information Technology as director of information and systems security/compliance. He will provide leadership, guidance and direction to raise awareness, develop principles, policies and a security architecture for the University as well as monitor government regulations and compliance issues. He will collaborate with departments and schools on security direction and issues, and he and his staff will focus their efforts on improving and maintaining a high level of security throughout the University.

Registration is underway for Northwestern’s Winter 2005 training and development sessions geared to help individuals and organizations on the Evanston and Chicago campuses work more effectively.

Learning opportunities from January through March include workshops and coaching in the areas of leadership and management; University business processes; workplace skills; computer applications; and organization development.

Northwestern is a charter subscriber to the Television News Archive at Vanderbilt University. The archive is the most complete collection of television news anywhere, preserving more than 30,000 network news broadcasts as well as presidential speeches, press conferences and political campaigns. Time for EOY nominations

Human Resources is now accepting nominations for Employee of the Year awards, which recognize one staff member from each campus for outstanding contributions to Northwestern. Nominations must be submitted by Feb. 7.
