This year’s laureate in the humanities was Northwestern’s esteemed philosopher Jürgen Habermas. Law student auction funds unpaid positions / Student Funded Public Interest Fellowship, a nonprofit organization run entirely by Law School students, will hold its annual auction Nov. 11. The group funds students working in unpaid summer positions at public interest organizations. Professor Steven Lubet serves as the auctioneer. Auction items include sporting event tickets, trips to Vegas, theater tickets, tennis lessons and gourmet dinners. ANUW elects officers / The Association of Northwestern University Women has elected officers for fiscal year 2005. Joan Trimuel, who served as vice president last year, is the new president. Other officers are Caryn Tomasiewicz, vice president; Mary Tobin, treasurer; and Kristin Yates Thomas, secretary. ANUW also welcomed these women as new members: Dawn Berry, Susan Black, Patricia Fulton, Susan Holliday, Jennifer Hubert, Helen Hutten, Mary Ann Jurges, Ruth McCullough, S J Murray, Carol J. Nielsen, Gabriela Petculescu, Lynnette Rickets, Vera Shively, Carolyn Turek and Avis Wright. Bienen joins Deltak board / President Henry S. Bienen has joined the board of directors of Deltak edu, Inc., a for-profit, post-secondary education company that provides career oriented online and blended education programs thorough its 15 campuses nationwide. “Deltak colleges play a significant role in the higher education market by making career education more accessible for working adults in all of the markets they serve,” Bienen said. |
