University Circle announces scholarship

The University Circle, founded by women of the Northwestern community, has established the University Circle Tuition Scholarship to assist Northwestern women in furthering their career opportunities.

The scholarship will be awarded to a working woman of Northwestern who is a student in the School of Continuing Studies. This venture will support the personal growth of a scholar in one of the many programs offered in that school.

To obtain an application, go to www.northwestern.edu/university-circle, or contact the Circle Treasurer, c/o Provost’s Office, 633 Clark St., Room 2-154, Evanston, Ill., 60208-1101.

Anyone who knows a Northwestern woman who would qualify for the scholarship is asked to encourage her to apply. Tax deductible donations can be made to the scholarship fund by printing a form available on the web. Donations will be used to help a woman employee obtain the financial assistance needed to further her education at Northwestern and prepare her for changing opportunities in a changing world.

The University Circle will celebrate its 90th anniversary on campus in 2005. Northwestern has been a pioneer in women’s education since it first enrolled women in 1869, opening the doors of higher and equal education to women.

Women of the University Circle continue to reach out to encourage fellowship by their involvement in the Northwestern community and beyond through interest groups.
