Richard W. Leopold lecture; Commentator Zakaria looks to next security crisisABC political commentator and Newsweek International editor Fareed Zakaria will speak on “The Next Security Crisis: Global Threats and U.S. Policy” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, when he delivers the 15th annual Richard W. Leopold Lecture. Zakaria’s remarks, which are free and open to the public, will take place in Room 107 of Harris Hall, 1881 Sheridan Road, on the Evanston campus. A book signing and reception will follow. Zakaria is widely respected for his ability to spot economic and political trends around the world. Esquire magazine called him “the most influential foreign policy adviser of his generation.” Since 2001, he has overseen Newsweek’s eight editions throughout Asia, Latin America, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. He also writes a column that appears in Newsweek (USA), Newsweek International and the Washington Post, making it one of the most widely circulated columns of its kind in the world. He offers political analysis on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and as an analyst on other ABC news programs. |
