Childcare registration, workshops

Reserve space now for Chicago KinderCare

Registration is under way for the childcare center that will open in Chicago in early 2005 at 446-448 E. Ontario, two blocks south of Abbott Hall.

The center, to be operated by KinderCare Learning Centers, will have 112 spaces for children of Northwestern students, faculty and staff who work or attend school on the Chicago campus. It will serve children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

A KinderCare representative will be available in Suite 150 at 446 E. Ontario from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays to register families and answer questions.

Workshops scheduled

Childcare benefits workshops will be held on both campuses in the first week of October.

The Evanston workshop will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Purdue Room in Norris University Center.

The Chicago workshop will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 6 in Room 850 in Abbott Hall.

The workshop will feature a childcare specialist from Action for Children resource and referral service, who will provide insight into finding and evaluating a quality program.

Speakers will also share information about the many work/life benefits offered though the University, including resource and referral services, guaranteed space reservations and fee assistance at the Evanston YMCA, the Chicago campus KinderCare location, the back-up provider pool, the nanny share program, and the dependent care flexible spending account and employer match programs.
