From Rhodes to NSF to Fulbright, students bring home awardsNorthwestern students and recent graduates have won some of the most prestigious fellowships awarded to college and university students this year.
The awards include Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, Mellon and National Science Foundation fellowships and Luce and Goldwater scholarships. Northwestern students were recipients of the awards that provide support for advanced education and/or research in the United States and around the world. Office of Fellowship Director Sara Vaux said the students excelled in many of the most highly competitive selection processes. Northwestern students came away with one of only 32 Rhodes Scholarships, two of only 40 Marshall Scholarships, one of only 12 Mitchell Scholarships, one of only 18 Fulbright grants to the United Kingdom (seven Fulbrights for undergraduates and one for a grad student), two of 15 Luce Scholarships and three of 94 Mellon Fellowships. Fourteen students received National Science Foundation fellowships, the most ever by Northwestern students.
