sound levels at the ear of a hearing research mannequin in preparation
for a project examining environmental influence on ear-level hearing
aid performance. The project will be conducted in the communication sciences
and disorders department’s anechoic chamber (pictured) and involve
older adults who are new hearing aid users. Results may have implications
for future hearing aid design. |

The search for a successor to John Birge as dean of the McCormick School
of Engineering and Applied Science has been re-opened, it was announced by
Provost Lawrence B. Dumas.

Obituary: Michael M. Ravitch
Michael M. Ravitch, who stepped down as director of the office of medical
education at the Feinberg School of Medicine six years ago, died Feb. 27 in
his Evanston home.
