Dance program for kids is March 6The Dance Program has scheduled a special dance event designed for families. A “Children’s Introduction to the Dance,” for youngsters aged 4 and up and their families, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (March 6) at the Josephine Louis Theatre, will be held in conjunction with “Danceworks 2004,” an annual showcase of the finest choreography of the Dance Program. The children’s dance event will include demonstrations and excerpts from most of the dances featured in “Danceworks 2004” that will be performed by the show’s cast. The Saturday morning program will be organized around a central theme and feature dances that will illustrate the idea. During an interactive segment, children and parents will be invited to explore some of the movement ideas from their seats. Two of the featured sections will include tap and African dance. The informative program will be moderated by dance faculty member Susan A. Lee. All tickets for the March 6 “Children’s Introduction to the Dance” program are $5. Tickets for “Danceworks 2004,” to be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 4, March 5 and March 6; and 2 p.m. March 7, are priced from $9 to $17.
