Johnson appointed associate dean for research operations at FeinbergDavid Johnson has been appointed to the newly created position of associate dean for research operations in the Feinberg School of Medicine. Johnson, who has served as associate vice president for research for the last four years, will have responsibility for working with medical school faculty, staff and leadership to improve the physical and operational infrastructure for research, said Feinberg School Dean Lewis Landsberg. “The Feinberg School of Medicine and its faculty members will benefit greatly from Dave’s experience in medical research,” he said. “One area of focus will be extramural funding opportunities, such as construction grants and program project grants.” Johnson joined Northwestern in 1993 and served as assistant chair of the department of neurobiology and physiology. He served as interim associate vice president for research administration and has been associate vice president for research for the past four years. He came to Northwestern from Harvard Medical School, where he conducted research in multiple sclerosis at Children’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Prior to going to Harvard in 1982, he was a Fogarty Visiting Fellow at the National Institutes of Health. Johnson holds a master’s degree in neurochemistry from the Institute of Psychiatry and a doctoral degree in biochemistry from the Institute of Neurology, University of London. He has published 30 articles. |
