Profile: Cindy NashTitle and length of service: Operations manager for University Enrollment; three-and-a-half years. Previously, I was the dean’s assistant in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences for four years. What do you do? I love my job! I gather data for all the national surveys that give us our rankings, such as U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review and Kaplan. I work with people on campus to collect information and with the survey companies to verify data. I oversee budget and payroll issues for staff in Financial Aid, Undergraduate Admissions, the Registrar’s Office and University Enrollment. I interact with each of these departments on an almost daily basis. I am also the building manager for the 1801 Hinman building; this part of my job has given me a great appreciation for our Facilities Management workers — they are great. What do you do at the Jones Fine and Performing Arts Residential College? I am a fellow for the residence hall; I love helping and being involved with the students. Once a year we go to see a musical performed by Porchlight Music Theatre Chicago and have dinner with actors afterwards. It is always quite an experience for everyone, since many of the students have never met an actual cast. The cast loves meeting the students too. What do you do outside of work? I am involved with fundraising for HealthWorks Theatre, which creates and presents unique educational programs dealing with critical health issues such as HIV/AIDS prevention and youth violence prevention. I am active in fundraising for Porchlight Music Theatre. I go to plays and sporting events. I love doing needlework in my spare time. Where do you live? My husband and I live in Wilmette. He’s a Realtor for Baird and Warner. We have three sons ages 25, 22 and 19. I am originally from Tennessee and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. — Marilyn Idelman Soglin |
