NewsbriefsFive women were inducted into the Medill School of Journalism Hall of Achievement recently. This year’s inductees are Ellen Soeteber, St. Louis Post-Dispatch; Margaret Sullivan, Buffalo News; Julia Wallace, Atlanta Journal-Constitution; the late Dorothy Jurney, Philadelphia Inquirer; and the late Bella Stumbo, Los Angeles Times. The Mongerson Prize for Investigative Reporting on the News has a new home at the Medill School. The $10,000 Mongerson Prize honors reporting that uncovers and corrects incomplete, inaccurate or misleading news stories. Ellen Shearer, assistant dean, professor and co-director of Medill’s Washington Program, will serve as curator. A portion of South Tech Drive will be closed to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic until about Dec. 1 during repairs to the utility tunnel under the road. The closed section is between the Center for Catalysis and Surface Science and the H-Wing of Technological Institute, west of the Tech/Catalysis Bridge. The Tech receiving dock will remain in service with traffic entering and exiting via the South Tech Drive. |
