HR NewsHuman Resources Training and Development invites employees to check out its leadership and management workshop series. For the first time, this popular series will be offered in Chicago as well as Evanston. The series is designed to help managers and supervisors enhance their effectiveness in eight key areas: • leadership and the role of management • relationship building and interpersonal skills • evaluating and coaching staff • mobilizing people for change • selecting new employees • managing a diverse workforce • effective problem solving and decision making • performance management and dealing with behavioral problems. Past participants have said they utilize workshop materials on a daily basis and that the experience has given them a greater sense of influence over work issues. Upcoming Work/Life Educational offerings focus on marital mediation and/or divorce. Workshops are scheduled in Evanston from noon to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5 in Norris Center, and in Chicago from noon to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 13 in Abbott Hall. Karen Quandt, an experienced family law attorney, will present this workshop to assist those who are considering divorce or have not been able to resolve various issues of family separation. Information will be available concerning issues of child custody, the divorce process, relocation and general financial support. In addition, the presenter will discuss mediation as an alternative to divorce. Participants are welcome to bring a family member or close personal friend.
