Food drive is Oct. 25As part of this week’s Campus Kitchen Week celebration (through Oct. 27) the project, an innovative program devoted to fighting hunger through community service, will sponsor a food drive. Currently, Northwestern student volunteers prepare and deliver more than 2,000 meals per month to local groups with emphasis on senior programs and after-school programs. “Make a Difference Day Food Drive” will be held at two locations Saturday, Oct. 25 — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Evanston Farmers Market, in the parking lot just west of the Hilton Garden Inn and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Whole Foods Market. Fresh produce and canned meat, chicken, tofu and vegetables and other miscellaneous food items collected that day will directly benefit Campus Kitchen clients. For more information about Campus Kitchens, or to volunteer for the Campus Kitchen project or to help with the Campus Kitchen Week events, contact Scott Parrish at (847) 491-6925. |
