HR news

Human Resources is piloting the new Web-based Electronic Time Entry System for non-exempt employees. Using this system eliminates the need for paper timesheets. Bi-weekly, temporary and work study employees will record their time in the system and supervisors will approve their electronically submitted timesheets on the Web before they are uploaded into HRIS.

Bi-weekly regular and temporary employees will also be able to view their leave accruals, change their current home address and/or phone number and enter vacation schedules.

HR staff and supervisors have received training on the system to prepare for the six-week pilot.

Following the HR pilot, additional University departments will be introduced to the system throughout 2003 and mid-2004. Approximately 2,400 regular bi-weekly-paid employees and 4,000 temporary employees and their supervisors will utilize the system.

As a University benefit, full-time faculty and staff qualify for tuition reduction and the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) tuition rates for Summer Session, even if they have not previously taken an SCS course.

Visit the Summer Session at www.scs.northwestern.edu/summernu/welcome/ for course listings and information.

Summer Session registration ends June 20. Employees who qualify for the reduced tuition must pay their share of the tuition bill in full at registration. To qualify for tuition reduction, eligible faculty and staff must submit a tuition benefit application to the benefits division one month prior to registration in order to receive the tuition reduction. If it is not filed, you will be billed the full amount of tuition.

Tuition benefit applications are online or at benefits offices.
