Dobroski celebration is May 22

Northwestern will honor Bernard J. Dobroski, dean of the School of Music for the past 13 years, with a special free concert that is open to the public. “Celebration: A Concert Tribute to Dean Bernard J. Dobroski” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Cahn Auditorium.

The musical showcase will feature Northwestern faculty, special guests, instrumental and choral ensembles, Boomshaka — Northwestern’s percussion and dance performance ensemble — and others performing musical theatre, opera, jazz, dance and instrumental favorites.

Last spring, Dobroski announced his intention to step down as dean of music, effective July 1. Following a one-year sabbatical, he will begin new responsibilities for the 2004-05 academic year as a John Evans Professor of Music and as an advocate for the arts across campus.

Admission to the May 22 tribute concert is free, but tickets are required for this reserved seating event, with a maximum of four tickets per person on a first-come, first-served basis. For tickets, call (847) 467-4000.
