Debaters tackle issue of cloningAs Congress ponders the issue of human reproductive cloning, two distinguished faculty members at Northwestern will lead opposing teams in a debate on whether such cloning should be prohibited. The event will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 18) in the McCormick Auditorium of Norris University Center. It is free and open to the public. Michael Kennedy, assistant chair and senior lecturer in the department of neurobiology and physiology, and Mark Sheldon, college lecturer in the department of philosophy and in the medical ethics and humanities program at the Feinberg School of Medicine, will be joined by two undergraduate students. The debate is the second in this year’s Great Debates series, a project of the Office of the Provost, the Northwestern Debate Society and the Office of Campus Activities.
