Global Chef on menu at Northwestern

Sodexho, the University’s food service provider, has launched its month-long Global Chef Program.

The international chef residency has brought a Sodexho chef from around the world during February to give customers in the United States a taste of authentic international cuisine.

Cheng Hong Wah, Sodexho’s top chef in Hong Kong, is on a three-week visit to the Northwestern Evanston and Chicago campuses working with Sodexho’s campus chefs to prepare authentic Cantonese cuisine for students, faculty and staff.

“We are excited and honored to have Chef Cheng visit us from Hong Kong to start such an educational program as Global Chef here at Northwestern,” said Sodexho Regional Vice President Jeff Paulson.

Students, faculty and staff and their guests can enjoy Cantonese specials such as congee, braised noodles and kung pao shrimp at several Evanston campus resident dining halls and retail locations.

Chef Cheng will prepare Chinese cuisine from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 13) at Willie’s Food Court and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday (Feb. 14) at the 1999 Area (Willie’s Food Court).

He also will prepare dinner from 4:45 to 7 p.m. at the 1835 Hinman Dining Hall on Monday (Feb. 17); lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and dinner from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, (Feb. 18) at Allison Dining Hall; and dinner from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 19) at Foster-Walker Dining Hall.

Taste of Hong Kong cuisine also will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the McCormick School faculty and staff dining room; from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Sargent Hall; and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Tech Express and Sargent Hall.
