Office of Undergraduate Research
Mission or Purpose
The Office of Undergraduate Research seeks to promote undergraduate participation in research experiences across all fields of study through offering programs, advising, resources, and connecting to other grant organizations.
Our summer programs include the Summer Undergraduate Research Grants ($3,000 stipend to cover an 8-week independent project) and the Undergraduate Language Grants (up to $3,000 to support intensive summer language study).
Students must be returning to Northwestern as an undergraduate in the fall to qualify for these grant programs.

“I think the greatest advantage of URGs is the skills that your own research develops inside an undergrad. Vision, self-discipline, and assertiveness are all required to complete this project and these will serve undergrads will in any capacity. This is certainly the case for me. I also think that doing research in your own field leads to a greater appreciation and depth to the challenges and cool aspects of whatever you are studying.” - Northwestern Junior
