Office of Summer Session and Special Programs
Mission or Purpose
College students, high school students and those seeking professional development or personal enrichment will find many ways to get ahead, explore, enjoy and learn this summer.
Summer Session undergraduate courses: Northwestern and visiting students can get ahead on credit towards their degree. In addition, most Summer Session courses are open enrollment, which makes registration that much easier for visiting students from other universities. During Summer Session more than 300 college credit courses are available for credit, including intensive sequences in which you can earn a full year of credit in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or a number of foreign languages. Courses are flexibly scheduled, ranging from three to eight weeks and taught during the day, evening and on weekends. You can also apply for special off-campus programs, including Field Studies and Study Abroad.
Please note: NU students register in CAESAR and visiting students register through SCS.
Registration for Summer Session is just like registration for any other quarter during the academic year. Courses are equivalent to those offered at Northwestern during fall, winter and spring terms. Northwestern University degree candidates enrolled during spring quarter 2012 will register for courses through CAESAR. The Summer Session class schedule will be available in CAESAR beginning Monday, March 5. Appointment times for the first four days of Summer Session registration (April 2–5) are based on the last two digits of your student ID number and are available online though the registrar's office or through CAESAR. Incoming undergraduates who have been admitted to a degree program for fall quarter 2012 must contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 847-491-7271 before April 30 to request advancement of their matriculation to Summer Session.
