Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI)
Mission or Purpose
The Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI) prepares undergraduate students with the knowledge, tools, and experiences to confront shared global challenges. Through transformative opportunities in international service learning, students form partnerships with grassroots community organizations — and the communities themselves — in the developing world to advance sustainable, community-driven change.
Program Description
The Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI) will give you the opportunity to learn from and work with communities in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, India, Nicaragua, South Africa, and Uganda. Earn 2 credits while addressing issues such as health, education, environment, youth, women’s empowerment, social enterprise development, and microfinance. If you are looking for a program where you learn by doing and are ready to get your hands dirty in the pursuit of global social change, GESI is for you!
